Description
Sesarmas are super giant decapod crustaceans of the infraorder Brachyura that inhabit all the abandoned cities and urban areas in the world. They are highly aggressive predators weighing up to 8,000 pounds covered with a thick exoskeleton.
The species origin is unknown but it is believed that in 2071 they were created using synthetic DNA. Ten years earlier synthetic DNA has been lorded for its creation of Carbon Capturing Organisims (CCO's) that removed and captures CO2 from our atmospheres to pre-industrial levels. Some speculate that Sesarmas were created as an act of biological vandalism.
Sesarmas spray acid when attacked from glands below their maxillipeds. The acid is only otherwise found in a genus of deep sea worms called Osedax. Osedax are a genus of deep-sea siboglinid polychaetes, commonly called boneworms, zombie worms, or bone-eating worms. The name alludes to how the worms bore into the bones of whale carcasses to reach enclosed lipids, on which they rely for sustenance.
It is estimated that there are over 1.3 billion Sesarmas in the world. The population explosion in the mid 2070's was attributed to the vast amounts of food available (animal live stocks and humans themselves). Since human and livestock meat were largely exhausted, Sesarmas populations have been under extreme pressure and little is known about their current eating habits.
